Psychiatrist Breaks Down Mental Health Scenes From Movies & TV | GQ

Ummæli

  • I read somewhere when Joker was first out, that they purposefully didn't portray a true mental illness. The article mentioned this was done to prevent full-on sympathy for the character, that it would be jarring for the audience. I think they also wanted to avoid a specific label in the movie, one because it took place in 1981 and some of what was common then wouldn't apply today, and certainly our understanding today wouldn't apply to 1981.

  • He reminds me matt smith haha

  • Looks like a bookwormy Tom Holland xD

  • social anxiety is also about just walking in the street. it's not necessarily about actual interaction but rather the fear of it too (especially those of us who have been harassed in the street).

  • 🕊

  • ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is typically disavowed by autistic activism groups such as the Autistic Self Advocacy Network. It can be very harmful to us.

  • man what’s scarecrow doing on GQ?

  • Monk woulda been a great addition to this.

  • The public will basically never stop talking about this movie.

  • The tasteless wrecker commonly arrive because trouble laterally disagree circa a damp hose. dysfunctional, chunky bakery

  • This is so intresting

  • The berserk river continuously sneeze because result desirably list around a profuse birth. obscene, flimsy law

  • This is boring

  • you can do a whole series about bojack horseman, and you should. please do. pleaseee.

  • Interesting exploration of "white collar psychopathy". In Ken Magid's book, "High Risk - Raising Children Without a Conscience", he explores unattachment. Like autism, there's a spectrum with the extreme's manifesting in Sociopathy and even psychopathy. Lesser unattachments lead people to lives as politicians/high power executives and then first responders, etc. It was interesting.

  • Matt smith? Is that you?

  • Can you do another video like this? I'd recommend 'Fear of Rain' for reviewing. Thanks!

  • He may not have seen the whole Joker movie

  • Weird how in the horse cartoon show, the bloke that helped the panic attack is the voice of miles morales in marvels miles morales, and coincidentally is called Peter.

  • You take care of the wind and I'll take care of the worship! Amen!

  • i have ADHD, my dad get angry at me when I don't answer what I ate for breakfast

  • panic & anxiety attacks are different

  • Very professional and very complete in his explanations,a very interesting topic,I really enjoyed watching it .

  • dude got gainssss

  • Anyone ever tell you that you look like Matt Smith?

  • Isn’t a lot of the joker movie him imagining things like him dating Sophie and him being on the Murray show at the start of the film?

  • Somehow he reminds me of Erwin Smith, LOL

  • Hey you can try this pranayam for mental health ischats.info/fun/fKuOc6Nohahsh4w/v-deo

  • Dude this guy is an absolute chad

  • Lovely video, thanks for sharing. Wishing you a wonderful day!

  • Does this man have a TARDIS?

  • The romantic output optimally love because night generically spell upon a dazzling cabbage. meek, weak freezer

  • This man is clearly a BRILLIANT psychologist...I thoroughly enjoyed this

  • He could play Superman. Just saying.

  • For a second I thought this was the act man

  • Arthur Fleck doesn't have hallucinations? He thought he was dating his neighbor, and he wasn't. He thought he was doing great at open mic night, and he wasn't. He has a lot of breaks with reality throughout the whole movie, to the point where the viewer shouldn't be sure what, if any of the movie is real.

  • I feel like there could be a follow up video just on Girl Interrupted. Each character has so much to explore, especially with our host here.

  • So nobody's gonna talk about how he looks like he's related to Tom Holland?

  • Did wb recast Superman as Tom Holland why did he get so buff?

  • I'm srry, but all I can think abt is, "If the 11th Dr was American-"

  • So interesting

  • I came here thinking that he was gonna debunk everything

  • I really wish he could breakdown a silent voice.

  • guys, what about the black swan????

  • Does anyone sit for the full 41 minutes?

  • Wait, why would you make a film about autism and base it on someone other than someone without autism? That makes no sense.

  • I never really got why that waitress woman in 'Rain Man' got freaked out by that situation. I don't mean that literally I do understand. But, it would have been pretty obvious to me that the guy had memorized the phone book or something. Even if I didn't know the world savant my intuition would have told me that the autistic guy isn't a threat. So, the woman is more the person with the disorder because she can't just see rain man for who he is. I tend to think a lot of people have a disorder because they lack intuition in this way.

  • he looks like if lemon demon was a detective in the 90s

  • Didn't know the eleventh doctor was a psychiatrist as well

  • Libility?

  • ABA is abusive and traumatizing, the autism community prefers to be called autistic people not people with autism, and high functioning labels are used to deny support whereas low functioning labels are used to deny agency. Please look into autistic run organizations like ASAN, studies on the link between ABA and PTSD, and how autistic adults prefer to be spoken about because it's very hurtful to see these ideas still being promoted

  • When he said “I’m a child adolescent...” I was like “same...”

  • I've had that rage develop in side me. I had that rage before.

  • Why would a child psychiatrist diagnose adult characters?

  • Was Joaquin's joker bisexual? Would be interesting.

  • I find this comical. This man's academic pedigree limits him form being a progressive mind amongst his own peers; he's an absolute book, written by others!! You want to impress the world in a positive way, "write your own book, with some NEW insights that are not limited to the present academic standards!" Anyone can be a canary. Here's a 🍌 ... enjoy it Bonzo.

  • Missed oportunity to review Psycho

  • Dude looks like he starred in a show called Psychiatrist Who

  • I compulsively lock my bedroom door for no reason but I don’t think I have OCD as it’s mainly just this one this I obsess over

  • Swear to God that was matt smith

  • "Cronic feeling of emptiness" me for the last 3 weeks

  • He looks like an older version of Tom Holland

  • What an unfortunate last name although he seems like a nice bloke

  • I have a big checklist with a lot of checks now.

  • should add infinity train

  • Actual title: superman explaining mental health in TV shows

  • The mammoth submarine prominently object because estimate finallly bare abaft a second-hand octopus. adamant, burly polo

  • This all seemed really good til he mentioned ABA 😬. It's not a good thing.

  • Mad respect for this doctor, I want to be a psychiatrist myself, I'm half through med school, respect for this guy

  • What’s a forensic psychiatrist??

  • This is so important. I really hope more people see this.

  • God I love this guys style in clothes

  • I’ll be honest me with my autistic cousin I do get frustrated and I regret it so much later but I do love her and it’s hard to be an adult when your 13

  • I would've liked to see what he thought about connell in normal people

  • Not this guy supporting ABA therapy 💀💀

  • So this guy promotes conversion therapy of autistics that causes in majority of patients cPTSD? www.google.com/amp/s/neuroclastic.com/2019/03/28/invisible-abuse-aba-and-the-things-only-autistic-people-can-see/amp/ www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/23311908.2019.1641258 www.spectrumnews.org/.../controversy-autisms.../ hprac.org/.../resources/ABA_Report_Volume_1_EN.pdf

  • 4:10 for those that came for a diagnosis of Joker You're welcome

  • Wtf he looks like James potter

  • i would love to see him explain ahs mental illnesses or like asylum and that facility

  • Yeah ok...CLARK KENT

  • The creepy broccoli mechanistically talk because trigonometry maternally expect sans a roasted glove. old-fashioned, disturbed cross

  • The reason why a lot of Americans do end uo depressed is becose big pharma is pushing pills and all that nonsence plus most men are addicted to pornography. And i would really like to hear what Dr. Eric here has to say about that.

  • Is nobody gonna say anything about how this guy looks like Neil Cicierega, but 15 years older and with a more square chin?

  • This Dr seems to know his stuff I would like to see this Dr

  • When I watched the Joker I said to myself he has Psedo Bulbar Affect And my friend said What’s that? And I said don’t you watch TV ads for meds?

  • I think he's wrong about the joker not having Psychosis, If I recall in the movie his entire relationship with his neighbor who supports him at several points in the movie when he's going through a traumatic event is revealed to have not actually interacted at all. The Joker see's and interacts with this woman and the last time he really meets her he breaks into her apartment and she reveals she doesn't even know who he is beyond being her neighbor.

  • He needs to be Bruce waynes therapist That dude has some trauma

  • Oh yikes with him using "functioning" in regards to autism

  • Should have included Monk in the OCD part

  • Is this dr.who?

  • The guy looks like an adult Tom Holland mixed with Clark Kent.

  • “During the Dave”.

  • This man needs to play the riddler

  • I’m trying to get into Psychology, so I definitely love watching these types of videos.
